THE DAY OF REST...

Had a fun long weekend with a friend in from Chicago full of brunch, shopping amazing Veteran's Day sales and lots of cocktails. Sunday night has arrived and I'm looking forward to a night in of take-out, ice cream, comfy clothes and a great tv lineup: "Boardwalk Empire", "How To Make It In America", "The Walking Dead", a little "Real Housewives of Atlanta", and of course my boyfriend Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens".

MMMMM-MISSONI (for target)

It's 11:16pm, Sept 12, 2011...44 minutes and counting until the Missoni for Target collection hits the web for purchase. I have checked out the lookbook (a few times, hehe) in order to not waste time once I hit target.com and to insure my must have items are in my cart. I have waited for this moment for months (my boyfriend was pretty happy too when he heard we weren't going to have to buy a Missoni throw at non-target prices). Without seeing all the colourway options, these are my edited picks:

I am planning to live in the b/w zigzag cardi jacket...perfect throw on piece to add some flair to a weekend black leggings, ballet flat and LnA tee rut. The multi coloured jacket exudes 60's flair and glamourous ease. Not a huge fan of burgundies and mustard, but still I can't wait to wear these knit shorts with a black cashmere turtleneck, tights, and fitted black suede OTK boots.

I am sure the mix and match teacups will be a best-seller, but the tray and vases don't look shabby either...gg buy my throw (and a few other things) and dream of their arrival...

VINTAGE CIGARETTE CARDS

About a year ago I was at a street fair in my nyc neighborhood. I met a lovely woman with a passion for collecting and selling vintage collectible cigarette cards. The subject of these cards are oddly enough, dogs, not cigarettes. One of my biggest loves are dogs, especially my little one, Isabelle. I quickly picked up a yorkshire terrier card issued by Gallaher LTD from 1936. Recently I ran into my card dealer again at a flea market on the west side. I scanned her collection and chose yet another yorkshire terrier card (isabelle's breed) issued by John Player & Sons of Player's Cigarettes from 1925 to add to my collection.

Here are a few Gallaher cards I found on the web:

NEED, WANT, MUST HAVE...but where?

So I have been going crazy over the Dolce & Gabbana "face" wedges forever...the biggest problem is...I have no idea where to find them. Anyone who recognizes this face and knows where I can get them lmk!

Bloggerspiration-Saturday Night Dinner

Smells like blogger spirit...The weather the past few days has been mighty confusing. Yesterday, it felt like spring, today, a windy fall with sudden light flurries. Tonight i'm going out for a casual dinner with friends and have looked to some of my archive images for the best weather-appropriate outfit inspiration from two of my favourite bloggers.

COZY CHIC with Judy Aldridge...

Always with seemingly effortless ease, Judy looks comfy and warm in a vintage 80's Ralph Lauren sweater.

EASY GLAM

The idea of leopard-on-leopard seems quite matchy matchy, but the slight colour variation between the Loub booties and vintage coat make it work quite brilliantly in a way that says, "Trust me, I know what I'm doing". Plain white tee and relaxed jeans make the look easy, the splashes of leopard enhance the sex appeal of this wash-and-go ensemble.

SIMPLE BUT OH SO CHIC with Elin Kling
photo: Style by Kling
Firstly, let's discuss the fact that this jacket was purchased at Zara. Crazy amazing. I like the mix of textures, and the simplicity of only incorporating two colours, with a little pop of pool blue...the camel accents even carry through to Elin's hair!

NEW YEAR, NEW REGIMEN

Let's be honest, most New Year's resolutions are superficial. Lose weight, start a diet, go to the gym more often. This year I am focusing on my skin and hair. No more waking up looking like a haggard party girl with last nights makeup, bad hair roots (although my hair dresser makes my tresses grow out perfectly blended), dry splotchy skin, and knotty hair due to a neglect in hair conditioning. No matter what you wear, good skin and hair can make you look ravishing even at the gym. Below are my new favourite tools and products that I am using to make my resolution become a reality.
1) EVE LOM cleanser: This cleanser is an exfoliant, cleanser, and moisturizer in one. Rub a quarter size dab onto dry skin. Once evenly distributed, wet gauze/cotton washcloth (it comes with the cleanser) in warm water and rub in a circular motion over the face. Wet cloth again and pat, getting the residual cleanser off. Wet cloth again with cold water and pat on face to close pores. Repeat in the evening. You won't even need moisturizer. If skin is super dry, I recommend cetaphil moisturizer.

2)NATURA BISSE: The Cure, tinted moisturizer::I know the word tinted moisturizer make some people cringe, but this is honestly the best. I have a pinkish complexion that often requires a bit of foundation, but often it covers my freckles and natural skin tone and makes me look dull and in fact a bit older.

3) Johnson & Johnson baby oil: Yes, it's old school but it's an inexpensive way to keep your body looking smooth and is a great alternative to expensive eye makeup remover. I wouldn't, however, use it on my face.

4) Conair Facial Sauna System: For only $25.99
5) OJON Hydrating Styling Cream: Apply a dime size amount of the hydrating styling cream to damp hair to lock in moisture and keep your hair glossy and frizz-free whether you decide to blow dry or air dry.

6) GHD Pink Limited Edition Flat Iron Box Set: I got this baby for Xmas and have used it every time I have styled my hair since. My mother recently clued me in that my beach wave natural locks looked a bit silly and out of place during a harsh winter. She really clued me in when I received this gift. If you like your hair straight, this flat iron is a must have. It is a bit pricey, but worth it as it cuts your straightening time in half. The box set includes a nice sized travel brush, zip bag to hold your straightener, and two amazing no snag clips to section your hair. Thanks to some mama wisdom, I plan to keep my hair soft and frizz free as the GHD flat iron also locks in moisture.

7) Mason Pearson Brush: Again, not inexpensive but I have had my Mason Pearson detangling brush for about 15 years, and it looks as new as the day I got it. This is seriously a must have brush! You can use it on wet as well as dry hair and it is perfect for detangling without breakage.

So there you go, all the products you need for beautiful skin and hair for the upcoming year and beyond...although these seem like a lot of products, they are well worth the price, and seriously cut your primping time. It takes about five minutes to wash your face with Eve Lom and Natura Bisse any uneven skin and moisturize it...and ten minutes to straighten hair once your done. Basically, 15 minutes for beautiful skin and hair is everything a girl could ask for.
